John Griffin Realty ltd was established 25 years ago as a specialist motel brokerage. What makes us different is our belief that it is all about the people and not just about the sale. We don’t just sell any motel to any person but match up your needs and goals with a complex which will help you achieve your dream. Having hands on experience in the industry, including owning and operating a motel, we can give relevant advice and provide answers to all of your questions. This will empower you with the knowledge to make an informed decision when buying or selling a motel, and make the right choice for you personally. Our husband and wife team consists of Richard and Kathie Shepard. Prior to motelling Richard served over 21 years in the Royal New Zealand Airforce during which time he qualified as a Chef becoming the RNZAF head instructor for London City and Guilds and finishing his career as a training developer at Air Command. Kathie held various positions involving electronics, sales and education but in later years was focused on bringing up the family of three. In 1996 Richard and Kathie purchased Aaron Court Motor Inn which was a 40 unit accommodation complex with restaurant and bar. After 10 years of hands on operating the motel Kathie joined the John Griffin Realty team, and Richard became the manager of the Hamilton Cosmopolitan Club. At the beginning of 2016 John Griffin retired and Kathie and Richard took over the company.

We believe past experience enables us to provide professional and informed advice on the motel industry in both the day to day running of a motel and the other wider ranging issues which will relate to you when you buy or sell a motel.
